You’ve made the decision – what’s next?

So you and your spouse have decided to divorce – but you don’t want the bitter fighting over kids, finances, and property, and you certainly don’t want the  huge cost of time and money that is spent on going to trial. Mediation – which is a form of “alternative dispute resolution” (or ADR) – may be a great option for you.

Mediation for an uncontested divorce is a process through which you and your spouse create your own divorce settlement – with the help of a professional mediator. It’s typically much less expensive, and provides fair outcomes with a true sense of control over the process and ownership of the results.

What sets New Family Beginnings apart from other mediators?

While mediation is not therapy, I use my therapeutic skills to support you and your spouse in dealing with the difficult emotions that are often experienced as part of the mediation process. At the same time, we develop a plan that is fair and promotes family wellness. I will have each spouse complete a screening before we begin, with the goal of creating a safe and constructive environment for both individuals.

Once you decide to work with New Family Beginnings, we will meet in person or virtually to work through what each of you wants regarding children (if you have them) and how to separate your finances and property, the common issues that need to be discussed in mediation. The process usually takes 6 to 10 meetings.
